The Importance of Grace

Romans 3:22-24

“The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, since there is no distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

Why is grace important? Because it sets us free. Free of the weight of our sins on our shoulders. Free of the burden we feel carrying it around in our hearts day after day. Grace allows us to have a clean slate with God and start over. So many people choose to judge another’s sin before they deal with theirs. Imagine how many people we could reach if everyone stopped judging sin, because ultimately God is the judge.
The way people tend to judge sin is on a scale. It kind of goes from the worst sin you can commit to sins everyone commits, like murder and suicide at the top, and cursing and sexual sin at the bottom. It helps us to feel better about ourselves because we think someone else’s sin is worse than ours. The thing is, in God’s eyes, all sin is bad and no matter what sin you committed, everyone needs to repent and bring Jesus into their heart to receive grace. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Every single person falls short. No one is perfect and not one person deserves more judgement than another because of their sin. In verse 24 it says, “They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” The beautiful thing about sin is that we can be washed free of it by God’s grace. Through Jesus’s sacrifice, we can be redeemed and born again without the weight of our sin on us.
There are so many young ladies who have been judged by their sexual sin when they become pregnant. Some lose the support of friends and family, and have no one to help them along their parenting journey. They can feel like what they must do is impossible, like it’s a giant mountain that they can never reach the top of. Many do not further their education because they must focus on working or raising their baby. These young mothers are bringing life into this world, and do not deserve to be judged solely on one decision they made. At Grow in Grace, we believe strong families help build stronger communities, and the best way to build strong families is by giving them love and support.
Everyone deserves grace, whether they realize it or not. God’s love for us is like an infinite ocean, and its overflowing all the time with waves of grace. There is so much hurt and heartache in the world, and it only gets more difficult the more we try to run from God. He’s reaching out to every one of us with an open heart. Grace gives us the ability to remember our worth and who loves us more than any person can. Grace is our way home and our way to a brighter and better future.
