Trusting the Lord
Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight."
Being
an adolescent mother can tear at the strands of trust you have with relationships
and family members, and when you aren’t getting any support from them, it’s
hard to know what you are doing is right. You must make so many decisions about
things you may not fully understand or have never thought of until you are
faced with it. Trusting the Lord can be the last thing on your mind, but it’s
something that is very important. A lot of the time when we put trust in other
people it fails, but when we put trust in God, it will NEVER fail. Psalm 37:3-6
says, “Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live
securely. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act, making your
righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.”
Trusting
your life to the Lord can seem crazy and scary. For years you can feel like you
have control of your life, until one day it starts slipping through your
fingers and you can’t figure out how you are losing your grip. This can be
especially difficult if you have put your trust in others and they betrayed
that trust. Psalm 37:3-6 is the perfect verse to show what God does when we put
our trust in him. When we have God in our hearts and in our lives, nothing in
this world can touch us. Psalm 56:3-4 says, “When I am afraid, I will trust in
you. In God, whose word I praise. In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What
can mere mortals do to me?” When the Lord is in your corner, you cannot, and
will not fail.
Everyone
at Grow in Grace OS wants to see these young ladies succeed in life. We want
them to have a stable home environment, a career that they are passionate
about, and the ability to take care of their child, but all of that is on the
outside. If they are having difficulty trusting their lives to the Lord, we
want to help them spiritually so they can reconnect with God and know in their
hearts that he is the ultimate provider. Trust is a hard thing to give when it
has been betrayed time and time again. Have peace of mind in knowing he will
not fail you because his trust is like a river that never stops flowing.
